Bus Driver
The Town of Ocean City, Maryland’s Transportation Department is accepting applications for our Summer 2023 seasonal positions!
The Town is currently accepting applications for Bus Drivers.
Drivers are required to operate the vehicle in accordance with the applicable traffic laws of the federal, state, and local government. All drivers shall operate in a safe and professional manner at all times. Bus drivers are responsible for accurately tracking their tickets, cash receipts, passenger load and other related paperwork that is necessary to complete their shift accurately.
Shift: The Transit Operations Manager is responsible for all scheduling.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES
- Operate all vehicles only on assigned routes.
- Perform all pre and post trip-inspections of their assigned vehicle.
- Accurately counts all passengers, free rides, half fares, and passes during their shift.
- Operates the wheelchair lift and secures wheelchairs in accordance with the proper procedures.
- Attends all training sessions as scheduled by the Operations Manager.
- Conforms to and enforces Ocean City Transportation rules and regulations pertaining to the boarding and alighting of all passengers.
- Maintains interior cleanliness of the bus as required.
- Maintains neat, clean, cheerful, polite, well-groomed appearance and a cooperative demeanor.
- Must be a good ambassador for the Town of Ocean City.
- Must submit to periodic random drug and alcohol testing.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 20 years old, four (4) years of driving experience, must be able to pass pre-employment and random Drug & Alcohol tests, have or be able to obtain a DOT physical, have or be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License with passenger endorsement, qualified to operate vehicles with air brakes.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to communicate both verbally and in written forms of English.
